At Teamo, protecting your personal information and maintaining the security of your account is one of our highest priorities. To strengthen that protection, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is used as an added layer of security for all accounts. When a user logs in, they will be asked to verify their mobile number to use 2FA or will be directed to Google or a Microsoft Authenticator if they prefer that option.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication is a security feature that requires two methods to verify the authenticity of the user and allow them to log in:
- Your password
- A one-time verification code delivered via a verified mobile number or an authenticator app.
This helps ensure that only you can access your account, even if someone else obtains your password. If you are using single sign on (SSO) - i.e. you log in through your workplace system directly, you will not need to use the 2FA as your system will already have sign on protocols.
Authentication Options Available
When setting up 2 Factor Authentication, you will have multiple ways to receive your log in verification code, including:
- Text message (SMS) verification. A mobile number is required for this.
- Google Authenticator. The Google authenticator app is required for this.
- Microsoft Authenticator. The Microsoft authenticator app is required for this.
Authenticator apps generate secure, time-sensitive codes directly on your mobile device, while SMS provides a convenient alternative.
You will need to use 2FA when:
When you log in.
- When you change your personal data
- When you redeem points for rewards.
To use 2FA you will be required to either add a mobile number OR add Teamo to your preferred authenticator app if you are not logging in via Single Sign On (SSO). The first time you log in you will see this screen:
Choose how you want to log in:
If you want to use your mobile number:
- At the bottom of the screen where it says YOU DO NOT HAVE A MOBILE NUMBER: Enter your mobile into the box and press SAVE to go to the next screen. Your phone number has now been registered.
- To proceed with phone number authentication, select PHONE AUTHENTICATION from the list.
- When you select PHONE AUTHENTICATION, a 6 digit code will be sent to your phone. Enter it in this verification box to proceed.
Two Factor Authentication is now complete. You will be able to access your account. You will need to use Two factor Authentication when you redeem for rewards, change your personal information or log in from a new device or after a period of time when you have not logged in.
If you wish to use an authenticator app:
If you do not have Microsoft or Google Authenticator apps you will need to download them first. Go your your chosen app store to search for and download these.
- To use an authenticator app, from the AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED screen above, select AUTHENTICATOR APP.
- When you click on this, a QR code will show up. Open your chosen authenticator app and take take a picture of the QR code. This will add Teamo to your app. If you cannot do this, you can also enter the setup key code show below and complete this process manually.
4. Once you add Teamo you will need to take the 6 digit code from the app and enter this into the box located at the bottom of the screen then click SUBMIT.
5. You are now authenticated to log in.
